Why we don't do pay-as-you-go
· 3 min read
One-off sessions feel flexible. They often keep children stuck in panic mode. A term gives room to actually close a gap.
Pay-as-you-go tutoring is seductive. No commitment. Book when crisis hits.
In practice it often means:
- Week 1: tomorrow's test
- Week 2: different subject crisis
- Week 3: tutor re-explains the same gap because there was no thread
The child learns that learning is reactive. So does the parent.
What a term buys you
Time to:
- Diagnose — what's actually wrong, not what's loudest tonight
- Sequence — build skill B on top of skill A
- Fade — tutor steps back as independence grows
- Loop parents in — practice between sessions that matches the plan
That's not lock-in for profit. It's runway.
Start small if you need to
A term doesn't have to mean blind trust. Our Diagnostic session is one hour to test fit before you choose Essential or Intensive.
